Billy Stanley “Bill”, age 92, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday April 7th, 2022.
He was born to Edgar and Violet Stanley in West Hamlin, West Virginia.
Bill grew up in Huntington with his two sisters Betty and Bonnie. He often shared many fond memories of growing up there and would always share stories of the Keith-Albee Theatre, Marshall University, and Stewart’s Original Hot Dogs. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army field artillery right after World War II where he was stationed overseas in Germany. Bill would later return to Huntington where he would meet and marry his wife, Joyce Stanley. Bill started his family in West Virginia before moving to New Jersey, having another child, and then on to Maryland.
Bill spent most of his career in purchasing and procurement in the nuclear energy and manufacturing industries. He loved spending time going to Fenwick Island and Skyline Drive with family. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and also went to many Phillies and Flyers games.
Bill’s greatest joy and hobby was spending time with his five grandchildren. He was always in attendance at a theater performance and was a constant staple on the sidelines of baseball, soccer, football, and lacrosse games. Bill was always friendly and outgoing and was a bit of a social butterfly. He had his own corny sense of humor and personality that so many endeared.
He was known for sending birthday and holiday cards to anyone and everyone he knew. You could also always find him on the chair out front or in the window waving, smiling, and talking with his neighbors.
Bill is survived by his sister Bonnie Shelton, stepson & daughter in-law Chris & Jane Blevins, daughter & son-in-law Lisa & Jeff Sine, son and daughter in-law David & Beth Stanley, and five grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Connor, Paige, and Ryan.
A graveside service for Billy will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1:45 PM at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075.
