Bobby Ray Hicks, ret.LTC, USA

LTC Bobby Ray Hicks, ret. US Army, of Loudon, TN, formerly of Laurel, MD passed away at his home in Tennessee, September 16, 2015. He was retired from the United States Army after 23 years. Bobby Ray was a graduate of Sam Houston State University and received his master's degree from the University of Maryland, Vicenza, Italy. He was an active member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Loudon where he served in various capacities, including Financial Secretary. Bobby Ray was a charter member of Tellico Village Lions Club and also held several offices in the Tellico Village Military Retired Club. Most of all, Bobby Ray was an avid golfer. Bobby Ray is preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Lou Dola Hicks; son, Curtis Ray Hicks; brother, Clifford Dale Hicks of Alexandria, Louisiana; nephews, Dustin Creagh, Steven Travis Hicks; great-nephew, SSG Glen Dale Hicks who was killed during the Iraqi War. He is survived by wife of 26 years, Phyllis Gail Hicks; son, Michael Lee Hicks of Willow Creek, California; daughter, Renee Randall of Panama City Beach, Florida; brothers, Charles Luther Hicks of Richardson, Texas, Travis Edward Hicks (Dot) of Dandridge, Tennessee; sister, Ruth Ann Creagh of Breckenridge, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchilden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD. 21075 (exit 6 off Rt. 100) on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 10:00 am till the start of his “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be Private at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.
