

Carolyn “Susie” Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished wife of the late William “Bill” Jones, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and devotion.
Susie was a proud and loving mother to Alan “Scooter” Jones and his wife Beverly, Keith Jones and his wife Nichol, and Rick Jones and his wife Juanita. She was a treasured grandmother to Gary Jones and a loving aunt to her nieces Debbie, Donna, and Darla, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews who will forever remember her warmth and kindness; Also loved by her “Jessup Boys” Joe, Ian, Scottie, Mark, Eric, and Valentino. She was preceded in death by her dear brother, Duane Johnson.
Susie lived a life defined by curiosity, determination, and a love for family. A true trailblazer, she became the first lady mechanic to earn a NASCAR license and spent many happy days around the track, especially at Dorsey Speedway. Her passion for racing led her to build and work on race cars, a pursuit she embraced with both skill and pride.
Her interests and accomplishments extended far beyond the garage. Susie believed strongly in lifelong learning and proved it by going back to college at the age of 60, where she proudly earned two engineering degrees. She was also deeply involved in her community and her children’s lives, serving as a Scout Master and Den Mother, always encouraging young people to learn, grow, and believe in themselves.
At home, Susie’s kitchen was often the heart of family gatherings. She loved to cook and bake for those she loved, creating meals and desserts that brought everyone together. She also enjoyed swimming, photography, and relaxing with her favorite television shows, including NCIS, FBI, and cooking programs. A devoted fan, she cheered enthusiastically for the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles.
Susie had a playful side that family and friends adored. She had a sweet tooth for M&M’s, enjoyed strawberries, and was known to relax with a glass of Jim Beam Honey while sharing stories and laughter with those around her.
Above all else, Susie loved her family. She will be remembered for her strength, adventurous spirit, generous heart, and the countless ways she supported and inspired the people in her life.
Her memory will live on in the stories told at family tables, the roar of a race engine, and the love she gave so freely to those fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at which time Sharing of Remembrance "Story Telling" will begin until 9:00 PM.
