Catherine Rose Lee Slater

Catherine “Boots” Rose Lee Slater passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Rosedale, Maryland. She was the beloved wife of John F. Slater for 70 years and devoted mother to Diana Ruleman and her husband Chris, and to the late Linda Slater. Born to the late Arthur and Addie Bowman, Boots was also preceded in death by her dear sister, Josephine Miller.

Boots was a proud grandmother to Christopher Ruleman and cherished great-grandmother to Jean. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her kind spirit, and her warm, welcoming nature.

An avid Baltimore Orioles fan, Boots found joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening in her yard, challenging herself with word search puzzles, and spending evenings watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. She especially loved playing 500 Rummy with family and friends and doting on her loyal dog, Sophie, who was never far from John’s side.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Monroe family, whose friendship and support during Boots’ illness meant more than words can express. Their kindness and presence brought comfort in difficult times.

Boots’ legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South of Route 100) on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Graveside Service will be held at Meadowridge Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 10:30am.
