Dale Lynn Scherer

Dale Lynn Scherer, 80, of Selbyville, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, March 28, 2026. She was born on June 13, 1945, in Baltimore to the late David Smyth Sr. and Margaret “Peggy” Smyth. She married the love of her life, John W. Scherer Jr., and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Dale lived a vibrant life full of love. Her smile could light up any room, and her laughter was truly unforgettable. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and cherished, and she loved deeply and unconditionally. While she dedicated many years of her career to the Department of Defense, the roles she treasured most were those of wife, mother, and her favorite title of all, “Nanny.”

She is survived by her beloved husband, John W. Scherer Jr.; her loving children, Kristy Bradyhouse (Timothy), Heather Coleman (Roger), and Amy McGee (Jay); her cherished grandchildren, Emily Wallace (Aaron), Sarah Bradyhouse, Madison Revel (Justin), Abigail Crosby, Hannah Bradyhouse, Mitchell McGee, Morgan McGee, and Jenna Crosby; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Hudson Wallace and McCoy Revel. She is also survived by countless other family members and friends.

The family will hold a private burial at Meadowridge Cemetery.
