The kids and I are so very sorry.  I got the card today and just about fell to the floor.  What a heartbreak.

Our prayers are with you at this sad time.We will remember Dan as a quiet man with big smile.Always easy to laugh at the Blazek family gatherings. Dan and Karen complimented each other well. They were and will continue to be a couple that we will try to emulate. Brighter days are ahead!

There are so many things I will remember about Dad.  From the time he rescued me on the side of the road with a blown tire…. I am not sure how he ever found me because I was only able to provide very limited directions --- he had a way with things like that, to the time he helped me go to the DMV to get my MD license and to look for engagement rings – because he was so excited for me to move here to start my life with Tim.  He was always so worried about my well being and was always checking on me to make sure I was okay – that was just his way, always concerned about everyone else.  At the beginning of the school year he even came and helped me for two whole days set up my new classroom.  He was very particular about things and had a specific idea about the room's layout – I ended up changing a few things which he saw when he came to visit on another occasion.  He constantly joked about this every time I saw him after.  Last week, when I went to my classroom, I changed it back to the way he wanted, because I was finally convinced it was better that way.   I will also always remember the excitement in his voice when I called to tell him I had said ‘Yes' when Tim proposed and how happy he was that he had been in on the whole plan from the beginning.  The last memory I will always hold on to is from Friday, when I got a chance to talk to Dad alone in the hospital.  Even on this day, he was worried about a doctor's appointment I had, instead of worrying about his pain.  He told me how happy he was that Tim and I were starting our lives together, and how happy he was to be gaining a daughter.  I know he will be watching over us as we begin building our lives together.

I was so lucky to have been married to Dan for 38 years.  From the very beginning of our relationship, things were always very easy.  Even though we were very different people, we complimented each other well.  We were able to share so many things in life including 40 Christmas'.  We enjoyed almost 12 years of retirement together and were able to go on many travels including Alaska, Nova Scotia, Bermuda, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and .  There are so many things I appreciated about Dan.  He was always full of humor, had great ideas that were original and out of the box.  He was known for always finding a way to fix things, even when others may have discarded them.  He was always learning, and most of his skills were self taught.  He was always current on the newest information and had an extraordinary eye for detail.  This became even more special to me when we were able to donate his corneas because up to the end, Dan was checking everything out with his eyes to be sure everything was ok.  Although I am sadden by his passing, I am grateful that we were able to spend one last Christmas and both of our birthdays together.  I am thankful that he did not have to suffer long, however appreciate the time we were able to spend together from his diagnosis to his passing.  I didn't want him to go, but I also didn't want him to suffer and was honored to be able to take care of him up till the very end.  I can't thank Dan enough for the wonderful life we were able to spend together.  He was my whole life and my best friend.  Till later my lil darling.

There are so many things I could say about my Dad.  He was not only my father, but my hero, role model, and best friend.  I have so many cherished memories that I will be able to hold on to for the rest of my life.  The list of life lessons he taught me throughout my years is way too long to list.  He was always so proud of my accomplishments and was always there cheering me on from the beginning to end of every endeavor.  I was always amazed by my Dad's ability to look at a problem and solve it from a variety of different vantage points – a skill I will take with me for the rest of my life.  I am sad that he has passed on, however I will always hold him near and dear to my heart.  I am disappointed he will not make it to my wedding, however am forever grateful that he was able to meet my fiancée and help me choose her engagement ring, something I would not want to have done without his advice.  I will always carry him with me and in every situation will pause and think “What would Dad do?”

Dan was a wonderful person.  He was an outstanding husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.  I had the pleasure of knowing Dan for about 40 years.  Karen and I went to high school together and I worked with both of them at the telephone company in Essex and Annapolis Maryland.  Dan was a very private individual.  He was a good looking man, always well groomed and he kept his trucks and cars immaculate.   His work ethic was remarkable.  He never did anything half way, his work was always above and  beyond the norm. Dan worked for me in 1980, in Annapolis Maryland.  I had the honor of promoting him to management and relocating his family to Davidsonville  Maryland.  When Dan was building his home next to ours he was there all the time.  His father was there often with him.  Dan would check everything that was going on while they were building.  Everything had to be perfect or he would be correcting it or challenging the workers.  At work, Dan kept his company car and his office extremely neat.  He was known as Mr. Neat at work.  When he was on vacation his people would mess up his desk, and make mud marks from their boots on his office floor to agitate him.  Dan would be upset upon returning because things were not kept up to his expectation.  One of the funniest stories about Dan was when I gave him a half gallon of wine for Christmas one year.  In those days you could never have alcohol at the office.  Shortly afterwards, Dan came running over to my office and he was really upset.  I asked him what was wrong and he said, “Look at my thumb nail”.  It was all black and blue, swollen and bleeding.  I said “what did you do”?  He started laughing so hard and said, “you know that bottle of wine you gave me”, I said yes.  He said “well it slipped out of my hand and I went to catch it and my thumb took the hit and the bottle fell and broke all over the floor”.   We both ran and got a mop and cleaned it all up before we got in trouble.  We couldn't stop laughing the entire time we were cleaning the mess up.  I guess I should have gotten him a replacement bottle, but I did not.
Dan was a wonderful friend.  Recently, Dan and his son, Tim, would come and do work for us at our properties.  His son, Tim was trying to make some extra money but Dan would always come with him. When they helped us they would bring their own tools, do more than we expected and we were just so happy with their work.  Dan cared about everyone, his family, his parents, his friends and fellow workers.  I never heard him talked negatively about anyone in the years I have known him.  This was a very unfortunate illness that occurred and it took him from us way too soon.  At Christmas, I had a chance to talk with Dan and I assured him that we would do anything we could to help Karen and Tim in the future.  I am so happy he did not have to suffer any longer.  I know for sure we can count on Dan taking the lead and making things right in heaven before we are all with him again.   Sleep well, dear friend.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Stefanie and I know Tommie and Billy met Dan with open arms. We pray for you to feel the arms of JESUS comforting and holding you.

Dan was a beautiful man from the inside out. He always had a kind word and a willingness to help anyone in need. Somehow, he could always make us laugh in times of stress or grief. Our finest memory is when he became the Sr. Vice President of my company. a position he earned by jokingly insulting Corrine at a card game. Every time, he would insult her, he would get an instant promotion. Rather quickly, he went from entry level to top man. If I could have picked my father, it would of been Dan. He was what a role model was meant to be..Easy going, laid back, with a quick wit and sense of humor and a true love for his family, that was Dan!. His legacy will live forever in our heart.

What I will always remember about Uncle Dan is something he said to me long ago.  "Most people only care that something works...Tim and I want to know How it works".  Thanks, Uncle Dan for all of your help over the years, when things did not work so well.
