Smeltz, David Anthony, born May 19, 1971 passed away peacefully at home with his family around him on December 24, 2018. David was a loving son of Marie Balderson-Seibert and her husband Henry Seibert and Paul William Smeltz and his wife Mae Smeltz. David was recently married on December 5, 2018 to his long time love, ThaTha Ngun . He is the step-father of Mili “Emily” Ngun Cer Chin and step-brother of Alan Seibert, Mike and Lisa Smeltz He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, many other family and friends and his cherished 2 rescued cats; Jack and Rocco.
David was known as Dave to many and he enjoyed working with his hands by doing his own auto and home repairs. He also enjoyed the Ravens, Orioles, fishing, duck hunting, snow skiing, auto racing, drive-thru safaris, going on cruses, RV camping, tasting new foods, trying new recipes and traveling. He traveled to England, Ireland, Bermuda, Germany, Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Phoenix and Winslow, AR, the Four Corners of the Southwest, Las Vegas, (many times), New York City to see the Statue of Liberty (twice), and Philadelphia, PA to see the Liberty Bell. David had an avid interest in American History, loved the USA and proud to be an American.
He graduated from Northeast High School, Pasadena, MD in May 1989. Graduated from the Baltimore International Culinary College in 1994. After graduating, he worked as a banquet chef at the BWI Marriott, souse chef at Paul’s South River Restaurant. He then worked at various restaurants in Canton and Fell’s Point where he was recognized in the Baltimore Restaurant Magazine for his great executive chef skills at Tom Cat Alley Restaurant. His favorite dish to make was an award winning (People’s Choice) cream of crab and his Uncle Butch’s favorite French Onion soup. After reaching the top of his culinary career, he decided to change his path and then worked in various welding and machinery tool and die shops. His new path led him to work as an industrial maintenance engineer for the last 15 years. His last job was with DAP in Essex, MD where he was the happiest.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075 (exit 6 off Rt. 100 south) on Sunday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Where a “Celebration of Life” Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 at Meadowridge Memorial Park with inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the MD S.P.C.A., 3300 Falls Road, Baltimore, MD 21211.
