It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Donald McCord, age 91, who left us peacefully on October 4, 2024. A dedicated and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Donald lived a life of service and commitment for 39 years, both to his country and his family.
Born on November 30, 1932, in Hickman County,Tennessee, Donald proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, where he exemplified the values of duty, honor, and sacrifice. His bravery and dedication during his service were a testament to his character and commitment to the ideals of freedom and justice.
Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia (nee Hyland), with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home for their five children: Donald McCord (Maureen), Debra Weaver (Donald), Susan Uhler (Dennis), Thomas McCord (Georganne), and Kenneth McCord. Donald's legacy lives on through his children and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and wisdom.
He was a devoted father, always present and supportive, instilling in his children the importance of family and resilience. His stories, filled with life lessons and laughter, will be cherished forever.
In addition to his children, Donald is survived by his grandchildren, Donald, Jason, Kelly, Kevin, Katelyn (Zachary), Thomas (Kelley), Justin, and Brandon and his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brynn, Maxwell, Thomas, Jack, and Avery who brought him immense joy in his later years. His family was his pride and joy, and he often spoke of them with love and admiration. Donald is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, is brother Eddgar and the late Oma, Nova, Joyce, Euylis, Douglas, Dennis, Alice, Cordis, and Margaret.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 3:00 – 5:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm where a celebration of Donald’s life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
