Douglas Scott Collison, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, friend, and man of faith, passed away on August 25, 2026 at the age of 70.
To know Doug was to know a truly good man. He was hardworking, strong, kind, funny, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. He spent most of his life working in the construction industry, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident to everyone who knew and worked alongside him. He believed in working hard, taking care of his family, and being there for the people he loved most.
Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He was an amazing father whose love, strength, and guidance helped shape the lives of his children. He was especially proud to be a grandfather, and his two granddaughters, Makenzie and Kynlee held an incredibly special place in his heart. He loved those girls beyond measure, and being their Pop brought him tremendous happiness and pride. The love he gave them will remain with them always.
In years past, Doug enjoyed spending time on the water fishing and crabbing. He also treasured the time he spent hunting with his son, Doug. Those days became memories that his family will treasure forever.
His faith became an important part of who he was. He loved Jesus and carried that faith with him. He attended Lighthouse Church in Glen Burnie and faithfully worshiped Jesus every Sunday. His family finds comfort in knowing that while they will miss him more than words could ever express, he is now at peace, no more pain, no more suffering and in the presence of Jesus his Lord and Savior.
Doug was loved by so many. He leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in possessions or accomplishments, but in the family he loved, the people he helped, the lessons he taught, the jokes he told and the countless lives he touched along the way.
He will be remembered for his incredible strength, his love for his family, his faith, and most of all, for the incredible man he was.
His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but the love he gave will remain with his family forever.

Doug was pre-deceased by his father, James Ellis Collison, Sr., his mother Theresa Helen Collison, beloved brother, James "Jimmy" Collison, Jr., He is survived by his daughter, Chrissy Gay (husband Brian) and son, Douglas J. Collison, his cherished grandchildren, Makenzie and Kynlee; and his sister Theresa Thomas.
A gathering will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100). A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery following the memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his beloved granddaughters, Makenzie and Kynlee, in honor of their Pop and the special love they shared.
