Douglas Robert Iorio, age 80, of Annapolis, Maryland passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. Douglas is predeceased by his Beloved Wife, Linda. He is survived by his Loving Children Paul Iorio, Douglas Iorio, and Stephanie Iorio; he is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
Douglas was born to his parents Ruby and Vincent in Queens, New York in 1942. As a young man, he served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis. One of his well-known stories of his experiences in the Navy include him being on a tugboat that was part of a blockade, with only one gun on the entire ship, shooting at a Soviet trawler. In his later years, Douglas enjoyed shooting pool with friends, fishing, and indulging in sausage and peppers. He maintained a strong connection with his Italian roots and Catholic faith.
A funeral service for Douglas will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 12:00 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
