Dusica Muntean – August 24, 1948 to September 2, 2019 Dusica Muntean of Laurel, Maryland (formerly of Lakewood, Colorado) loving husband of Emilia, passed away peacefully in his home in Maryland City on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the age 71. He was born on August 24, 1948 in Gelu, Romania, to the late Elena and Sfetozar Muntean. He was preceded in death by his son Sfetozar and his brother Zivko. He is survived by his wife Emilia, daughter Draga; and two granddaughters Eva and Erika. Dusica was raised in the small village of Gelu. He graduated from Scoala de Soferi, in Caran-Sebes, class of 1966. On November 11, 1969 he married his wife Emilia. Together, they sought political asylum in the United States in the hopes of giving their children a better future and made their home in Colorado, where he quickly fell in love with the American way of life and the old West. He greatly enjoyed cowboy westerns and especially loved John Wayne and Ronald Reagan. In his spare time, he loved to ride motorcycles, enjoyed shooting firearms in the Colorado outdoors and working in his garden. He truly loved his adopted country, became a naturalized United States citizen on October 7 1988 and appreciated his new freedom. He worked for the City of Golden as a pipe technician, where he was a real people person, always telling stories and laughing at his own jokes. He worked hard for his family and adored his granddaughters. Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Kaufman’s Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial, followed by the internment service at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Maryland. Flowers and other deliveries can be sent to Kaufman’s Funeral Home located at 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, Maryland 21075. There will be a celebration of life immediately following the service, at 154 Lafayette Avenue (Suite E), Laurel, MD 20707.
