On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, Elaine Catherine Eckart (nee Eckert) passed away at the age of 88. Elaine was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 7, 1934 to her parents, the late Robert and Catherine Eckert. Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Jerome Eckart and the devoted mother of Nora Miller, Bonnie Siegle (the late Brent) and Gayle Summers (Mark); dear sister of her half brother Edgar Eckert and the late Robert Herman Eckert, Jr.; loving grandmother of Christopher Miller (Courtney), Ryan Miller, Melissa Sheeler, Andrew Summers (Shannon), Julie Summers, and Garrett Summers; cherished great-grandmother of Delaney and Emersen Miller, Brady Myers (Meagan) and Cooper Sheeler; great-great-grandmother of Chase Myers.
Mrs. Eckart grew up and lived in Maryland her entire life. She graduated with honors from Kenwood High School, Baltimore County in 1952. After finding the love of her life, she married Bernard J. Eckart on April 16, 1955. Her professional career included various secretarial positions, as well as, supporting and performing all administrative duties of her husband's home improvement business, Bee-Jay Contracting Company. Elaine cherished taking care of her family, volunteering her time and talents supporting family activities, church functions, community events, and being with friends. She enjoyed baking, travelling, golfing, snow skiing, gardening, church activities, and taking pride in her home. Elaine loved music and shared that passion in many ways. She affectionately described music as "If you have music in your soul, you have everything." Above all, her love and devotion for her family was the most important aspect of her life.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 3:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:00am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
