Erick Anthony Esker

On Saturday December 31st, 2022, Erick A. Esker passed away at the age of 65. Erick was born on January 30th, 1957, in Baltimore, MD to Eugene A. and Rita L. (Zumlahlen) Esker. He attended Appliance Servicing School in Washington, DC and received a Master Technician Appliance Servicing Diploma in 1981. Erick received two Associate of Arts degrees from Anne Arundel Community College - for SPM-Sci/Premed in May 1984 and for EMT-Paramedic in May 1993. He was employed with Anne Arundel County Fire Department for 13 years.

Erick’s personal interests included woodworking, white water rafting, camping and fishing. He enjoyed the many camping trips that he and his wife made to the various state parks in Garrett County, MD. Erick also had a great love of the water, spending many hours out on the Chesapeake Bay and enjoying the occasional fishing trips that he would take with his father and brothers. Erick was known for his kind and compassionate spirit and was always willing to help others.

Erick was preceded in death by his father Eugene, his mother Rita, and his brother Paul. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Colligan), his two children Sharon and Peter, his three stepchildren Michael, Erin and Rebekah, and his four grandchildren Eugene, Zachary, Matthew and Madelyn. He is also survived by his six brothers and sisters, Fr. Karl Esker, CSsR, Karen Dickhaut, Linda Esker, Elaine Reed, Francine Glavy, and John Esker, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Erick will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075.
