Evelyn Louise Van Dyke, born on May 6, 1931, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn lived a life grounded in simple joys and connection. She loved playing board games, getting her hair and nails done, and could spend hours chatting on the phone with friends and family. She enjoyed bowling and swimming, and rarely missed an episode of The Young and The Restless—a pastime she treasured with her late husband.
Deeply committed to her community and to her children, Evelyn was always present, always helping, and always offering steady support. She dedicated many years to the Boy Scouts, serving on the parent committee and as a den mother for Cub Scouts. She also made sure she attended every one of Gregory’s baseball games. Her involvement touched many lives, and her dedication to her family was evident in everything she did.
Above all, Evelyn’s most remarkable and defining trait was the extraordinary care and love she gave to her daughter, Beverly. They were like 1 person, never seeing one without the other. She was a devoted mother in every sense, with a heart full of patience, strength, and unwavering love.
Evelyn is survived by her Loving Children, Gregory Van Dyke (Shelley) and Beverly Van Dyke; Cherished Grandchildren, Lindsey Benjes (William) and Erin Van Dyke (Arick Loeschke); Dear Brother, Sammy Slaughter; and Dear Niece and Nephew, Richard and Charlotte Lindsay.
Evelyn is predeceased by and reunited with her Loving Husband of 71 years, Roland Vinson Van Dyke; Parents, Archie H. Williams and Miranda Slaughter; Dear Siblings, Archie Williams, Jr. and Patricia Bailey.
