Geri Lynn Stimeare of Elkridge, MD was born on February 6th, 1961 in Camden, NJ. She joined the Fetterolf family in 1969. She attended West Chester Christian School in West Chester, PA where she met her husband to be, Ronald Stimeare, in 1976 at the age of 15. They were married in February 1980 and quickly had two beautiful children, Scott and Melissa.
Geri lived a very full life in her short years. She did more before the age of 51 then most accomplish in several lifetimes. While living in AZ she completed her RN degree. This allowed her to serve those in need wherever she lived. She was a world traveler accompanying her husband in a military career that brought them to countries like Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, England, Ireland, The Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Turkey, Greece, Slovenia, Egypt, Dubai, and others.
Throughout her career with Ron she set up households in the US in the states of PA, WA, NC, GA, KA, AZ, HI, VA and MD; also, abroad in Berlin and Stuttgart Germany, Vicenza, Italy and Kuwait City, Kuwait. Her home reflected these experiences with beautiful keepsakes throughout that she could instantly recall a story reflecting fond memories of events, cultures and close friends.
Recently she returned to Fort Meade, MD after living two years in Kuwait City. There they retired from the Army after 30 years of dedicated service to their country. Ron started a civilian career and they settled in Elkridge, MD. In addition, this past year she celebrated her son Scott’s wedding to Donice Cully in Italy, saw the birth of her first granddaughter born to Melissa and Vinnie Popowitch and bought her dream home.
Geri lived life to the fullest. Her last weekend with Ron was spent enjoying a beautiful afternoon in Washington DC walking the entire tidal basin during the cherry blossom festival giving her new knee a thorough workout. The evening entailed a celebration of her closest friend, Debbie’s 50th birthday. Saturday was spent rekindling old friendships and Sunday was spent with her Father.
Accomplishing so much this past year allowed Geri to be at peace when she met her Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 30, 2012.
She was a friend to many, a respectful daughter, devoted wife, proud Mother and Grandmother. She was Ron’s very best friend and partner for the last 36 years of their lives.
She is survived by husband, Colonel (Ret) Ronald Stimeare, Mother and Stepfather, Fred and Suzanne Fetterolf, Father, James Blazer, son, Scott and daughter, Melissa Popowitch.
Memorial service for Geri will be held on 5 April 2012 at 2 pm at Grace Community Church, 8200 Old Columbia Road Fulton, Maryland 20759. Interment arrangements are pending at Arlington National Cemetery.
