Hung Thieu Tran, age 96, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2026, at 8:38 p.m., surrounded by the love of his family. His passing marks the end of a remarkable journey defined by perseverance, sacrifice, humor, faith, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Born in Hai Phong, Vietnam, Hung's life was shaped by resilience from an early age.

Through his sacrifices, hard work, and unwavering love, he built a legacy that grew to include twenty grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing his family gathered together, sharing a meal, telling stories, and creating memories that will endure for generations.
In addition to his wife, Thuy, Hung is survived by his ten children: Minh Tran and wife Lien Hoa Tran, Mai Do and husband Tai Do, Dzung (Phuong) Tran, Trung Tran, Thuy Tran, Lien Nguyen and husband Thach Nguyen, Huy Tran and wife Kim Anh Tran, Hoang Tran and wife Dung Tran, Huyen (Anna) Tran and husband Robert Lentz, and Kim Tran and wife Marcela Dona-Tran.

He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Henry Tully, Virgil Tully, Jade Whitcomb-Tran, Ariana Melvin, and Lola Cole. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in every family event. His life was a testament to faith, sacrifice, perseverance, and love, and his memory will forever remain a blessing to those fortunate enough to have known him.
Funeral services for Hung Thieu Tran will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Maryland. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of his life, to honor his memory, and to give thanks for the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and kindness during this time.
In remembering Hung, we celebrate not only the hardships he overcame and the opportunities he created, but also the laughter he shared, the meals he prepared, and the love, light and joy he gave so freely to his family and friends.
May he rest in eternal peace in heaven with the Lord.
