Ilajean Reams

Ilajean Reams, age 84, of Elkridge, Maryland passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. Devoted Spouse of 58 years to the late Thomas Wesley Reams; Loving Mother of Paige Waters (Trent) and Dan Reams (Diana); Beloved Daughter of the late Arthur and Malena Long; Dear Sister of Fred “Emo” Motschman, Linda Elwood, Monte Long, Josephine Kjonaas, and (late) Louis Long. Cherished Grandmother of Erin Waters, Andrew Waters, and Nicole Reams; Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ilajean worked for many years at the Elkridge National Bank, then after the bank was sold, finished her career working for Howard County Recreation and Parks. Ilajean loved to be surrounded by family and friends, always making others feel welcomed. To be a back door guest was the best. Anyone who knew Ilajean was keenly aware that she enjoyed cooking and baking, most likely because of being married to Tommy. She was especially known for her apple pies, jams and jellies. Being in the Reams home always provided one with a sense of peace and friendship. No one ever left the Reams house without feeling loved, encouraged, and a full belly. There was just one little rule though around the house on weekdays: at 7 pm, it was time for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Ilajean was a natural when it came to being an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and friend! Although she had been through many physical trials during her lifetime, her physical limitations never defined her. She was strong, resilient, and a shining example of how a faith-filled life in God can change any of life’s circumstances for the better. She will be dearly missed by so many.

A visitation for Ilajean will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at MMP, Inc., 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. A funeral service will occur Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
