Mary Joe Witten, 81, and husband, James D. Witten, Sr., 82, of Brooklyn Park, Maryland passed away on, July 2, 2020. They were married 64 years. Mary was born to Carl and Myrtle Altizer Harrison in Squire, WV on April 9, 1939. Jim was born March 2, 1938, adopted parents were Trix and Peggy Witten of Canebrake, WV. Both attended Big Creek High School, War, WV. They married on August 2, 1955. Mary retired from Maryland DMV. Jim retired from Continental Can Company in Baltimore. Jim was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Glen Burnie, MD. Mary is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jeanita, brother-in-laws, Harry Roberts, Ray Farmer and Bob Stroupe. Survivors include sisters, Norma Roberts of Charleston, WV, Shirley Farmer Phillips of Bluefield, WV, Sandra Sue Stroupe of Rocky Gap, VA, brothers, Roger and James Harrison (Peggy) of Lerona, WV, and brother-in-law Henry Eddie Little of Fincastle, VA. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Tidwell-Altizer and Betty Tidwell-Wyatt. Survivor is niece Dreama Charron. Jim and Mary raised their family in Brooklyn Park, MD. Both are survived by their sons, James D. Witten, Jr. (Brenda) of Brandon, FL, David A. Witten (Gail) of Sykesville, MD, Steven A. Witten of Brooklyn Park, MD, and daughter, Judy D. Boyle (Michael), of Pasadena, MD; Eight Grandchildren, Brittany Williams, Trevor Witten, Bekah Witten, Amber Finneyfrock, Kristy Kaemmerlen, Savannah Witten, Edward Schwartz, III, Michael Boyle; Nine Great-Grand Children, Shelby Schwartz, Ethan Gamrod, Benny Schwartz, Brooklyn Williams, Kinsley Williams, Lincoln Williams, Jack Kaemmerlen, Kaelyn Finneyfrock, Owen Finneyfrock; and Two Great-Great Grandchildren, Keon Kinard and Raelynn Kinard.
Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the visitation and funeral services for Mr. & Mrs. Witten will be private. A Livestream Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 11:00am.
