Born in Pennsylvania, Jim eventually made his home in Maryland, where he met the love of his life, Joyce Irene Todd Guthrie. Together, they built a life centered on faith, devotion, and unconditional love for their family. Though Jim found the Lord later in life, his faith brought him great peace, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Joyce.
Jim was a man of extraordinary generosity. Humble and selfless to a fault, he was the kind of person who would truly give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket without a second thought. Family meant everything to him, but his passion for classic cars was a close second. An avid car enthusiast, Jim spent countless happy hours showcasing his pride and joy—a 1950 Ford Custom—at local car shows or simply taking it out for a drive.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Irene Todd Guthrie; his father, Clyde Guthrie; and his mother, Virginia Guthrie.
Jim leaves behind a deep legacy of love through his family. He is survived by his Children: Son, Pat Guthrie (Gail); Daughter, Sandy Guthrie (Roger). His Grandchildren: Beverly, Christine, PJ (Jamie), Eddie (Amy), and Katie (Danny). His Great-Grandchildren: Connor, Cameran, Addie, Charley, Bryson, Karson, Lindsey, and Brantley. His Siblings: Sisters, Donna and Bernadette ("Bun"); and Brothers, Dan Guthrie, Harold Rodeheaver, and Tim Rodeheaver. An abundant amount of loved ones in Pennsylvania, including his Aunt Donna Jean, who held a special place in his heart and spent time visiting with him the day before his passing.
Jim’s warmth, generosity, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A viewing service will be held this Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Boulevard Elkridge Maryland 21075 with burial services to follow.
