With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Janice Ann Bellas, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 2, 1956, Jan lived a life defined by love, strength, generosity, and an unwavering ability to see the beauty in the world around her. She had a heart that welcomed everyone, a hug that could warm anyone’s soul, and a quiet resilience that inspired all who knew her.
Jan was also an extraordinarily talented watercolor artist whose paintings captured the beauty of wildlife with remarkable detail and heart. Through every brushstroke, she expressed her deep appreciation for God’s creation and her unique ability to find beauty in the natural world. Her artwork brought joy to so many and will remain a lasting reminder of the gentle, creative spirit that made her so special.
Above all else, she loved her family. She devoted her life to those she loved, always putting others before herself. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, celebrating life’s milestones, sharing laughter and silly games, listening to music, dancing, and creating memories that will forever be treasured.
In recent years, Jan faced the greatest challenge of her life with extraordinary courage. Although cancer took a tremendous toll on her body, it never diminished her spirit, her kindness, or the love she poured into those around her. She faced each day with grace and incredible strength, reminding everyone around her what true perseverance looks like.
She is now reunited in Heaven with those she loved so dearly, including her late husband, John Bellas; her love, Lenny Simmons; her mother, Janice Mary Seckman; her father, Stanley Seckman; her brother, Daniel Seckman; and many other cherished family members and friends who went before her. While our hearts are broken by this loss, we find comfort in knowing she is once again surrounded by love, free from pain, and embraced in God’s eternal peace.
Jan is survived by her loving daughters, Giovanna Bellas and Elaina Bellas; Her son in laws Ian Carmichael and Steven Black; her cherished grandchildren, Kai Bellas, Daxton Holsey, Kennedy Black, Kamran Carmichael, and Olivia Carmichael; her sisters, Susan Carr (Richard), Sharon Seckman, and Neva Rowles (Alton Scott); her brother, Tom Seckman (Janice); her sister-in-law, Carmen Seckman; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Those who knew Jan will remember her for her compassionate heart, quiet strength, generosity, artistic spirit, warm smile, and unconditional love. Her legacy is not measured by material things, but by the countless lives she touched through simple acts of kindness, encouragement, selfless love, and the beautiful watercolor paintings that continue to reflect the wonder she saw in God’s creation.
Though we will miss her every day, we rejoice in knowing that she has been made whole again. She has traded pain for peace, suffering for healing, and earthly burdens for eternal joy.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jan’s life at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge on Thursday, July 16, 2026, with burial to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of cut flowers, the family asks that any flowers given have roots so they may be planted to create a beautiful garden in Jan’s memory. You may also honor her memory by showing kindness to someone in need—just as she did throughout her life.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
