Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her love of family and the many special memories she created with those she loved.
She was the loving mother of Sherri Schlicter and her husband, Dale, and Teri Ruth and her husband, Bucky; cherished grandmother of Jennifer Benefiel and her husband, Grant, Greg Schlicter and his wife, Maggie, and Wesley Ruth and his wife, Kayla; and proud great-grandmother of Kyle, Sloane, Gabriel, and Violet. She was also the dear sister of Julia Myers.
Joan enjoyed shopping, cooking, and, especially, making delicious desserts. One of her favorite traditions was baking Christmas cookies with her grandchildren, creating sweet memories that would be treasured for years to come. She also enjoyed taking Gunther bus trips to the Grand Ole Opry, Longaberger basket events, and the outlets. The bus trips were even more fun when it came time for the raffles, as Joan seemed to have a knack for winning quite often!
Joan took pride in her appearance and enjoyed getting her hair done twice a week, always making sure her nails were polished and looking beautiful. She had a special appreciation for life's simple pleasures and found joy in the activities and traditions she loved. Her warmth, her love of family, and the happy moments she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be fondly remembered and forever cherished.
