On Saturday, April 5, 2014, Joseph “ Murph” Francis Murphy of Elkridge, MD. Devoted companion of Louise F. Hager, loving father of Barbara E. Lechliter and her husband Jay. Brother of Susan Valenza, Kathleen Dorsey, Charles “Bud” Murphy and the late Shirley Schiavetta, Margaret Murphy, Patricia “Sis” Murphy and William “ Bill” Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075 (exit 6 off Rt. 100) on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 4:00 pm till the start of the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm. Graveside Service and Interment will be held Thursday at Meadowridge Memorial Park at 10:00 am. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Gilchrist Hospice Center, 6334 Cedar Lane, Columbia, MD 21044. Mr. Murphy served in the United States Marine Corps as a sargeant during the Korean War.
