Lakshmy Perumpadari, known lovingly as Paati, died peacefully at the Harbor Hospital in Maryland, at the age of 84. During her time in the United States, she was surrounded by family and cared for by her children and grandchildren and enjoyed the company of various family friends and neighbors. Paati was always encouraging us kids to study hard and in return, we would convince her that we had all topped our respective classes. Paati was a beacon of joy in all of our lives and set many different examples as the oldest in her family. We all hope to honor her sacrifices and celebrate the life that she lived at Gary Kaufman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lakshmy Perumpadari was born on May the 13th 1939 in a small village near the present-day cannanore in Kerala, south of India to hard-working agricultural parents Narayan & Alamelu .
She had a flair for academics & excelled in all fields of academia right from a tender age. Her flair for mathematics was highly appreciated by her school teachers, but as was the vogue in the early patriarchally driven 20th century society, she had to give up on her studies & enter into wedlock at a tender age of 15.
MARITAL LIFE
She was married to Mr Narayanaswamy , a technocrat who contributed largely to the development of an industrial India. He was very caring & supported his wife in all her activities. Thus, Mrs P.N.Lakshmy blossomed from the academic to a responsible " Homemaker." They were blessed with 2 girl children & she brought up her children with love & righteousness. On many occasions, Mrs Lakshmy was to rear her children single-handedly as her husband was mostly busy in his career & had to go on technical tours in India & the USA
By the mid 1970 Mrs Lakshmy Perumpadari was diagnosed with neural epilepsy & had occasional seizures, but this never was a handicap in discharging her duties & responsibilities and rearing her family in the most admirable manner. That she always had a cheerful disposition to life & always had a smile in spite of her health, which endeared her to one and all & she was very popular with all her close ones & friends she interacted with. She particularly loved to spend quality time with her 4 grandchildren.
*Lakshmy Perumpadari the " Fighter"
She was held back with the dreadful Parkinson disease lately, but she faced it with grit & never lost her vision of leading a " Cheerful Life " whatever challenges life posed to her. She passed away in the early hours of June 11th, but what stands out even in her demise is " A cheerful disposition to life come what hardships may & face the challenges with grace & poise unparalleled " We pray to God to let her soul rest in peace.
A visitation for Lakshmy will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075, followed by a funeral rituals from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
