

Larry Dean McClaugherty Sr. passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 26, 1948, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Howard Hale McClaugherty and Martha Teel, and a longtime resident of Pasadena, Maryland.
Larry was known for his great personality and his ability to fix just about anything. He loved tinkering and working with his hands, and he was a talented draftsman. Larry worked for Windsor Electric Company for over 30 years as an electrician, where his skills and dedication were well respected.
He enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes including hunting, fishing, watching football and NASCAR, and spending time with his family. Larry also loved visiting Chincoteague Island, the Smoky Mountains, and the Cherokee Nation.
Larry had a great appreciation for simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed eating Maryland crabs and oysters, relaxing with a cold beer, and listening to country music, especially favorites like Reba McEntire, Pam Tillis, and Vince Gill. He was also known for his unique love of peanut butter and pickle sandwiches.
Larry shared nearly 58 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Donna Gail McClaugherty (née Christian). He was a loving father to Larry Dean McClaugherty Jr. and his wife Lisa, Jeff Scott McClaugherty, and Stephanie Haigh and her husband Gene. He was a proud grandfather to Brandee and Megan McClaugherty.
He is also survived by his sisters Reba Minor and Maybelle Payne, his brother Randy McClaugherty, and his sister-in-law Artie Pierce and her husband Roger Dale Pierce.
Larry was preceded in death by his sisters Nancy Slocum and Patty Wriston, and his brothers Howard and Bill McClaugherty.
Larry will be remembered for his humor, his talents, and the joy he found in life’s everyday moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
