On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, Lorraine Ann Ciepiela (90) of Hanover, MD passed away. She was preceded by her beloved husband, Francis Ciepiela. Loving mother of Victoria Hodges and her husband Gregory, Christopher Ciepiela and his wife Mary, Barbara McGuinness and her husband Bill, David Ciepiela and his wife Darlene, and Robert Ciepiela and his wife Lynne. Caring grandmother of Sarah, Ryan and his wife Katie, Keith, Connor, Caitlyn and her husband Zach, Matthew, Zachary, Lauren, Caileigh and her husband Ben, Emily, and Natalie. Dear great-grandmother of Caden, Emma, Zoey and Charlotte.
She was a woman of diverse passions and a heart full of love. Her joy was found in the pages of romance novels, indulging in the captivating tales that transported her to different worlds. Family was the cornerstone of her happiness, and she reveled in the art of hosting and cooking for her extensive family, crafting delectable Polish dishes like potato cakes, raisin bread, kielbasa with sauerkraut, and perogies. Her backyard was adorned with apple trees, from which she would pluck the ripe fruits to create mouthwatering apple pies for her loved ones.
Beyond the kitchen, she found delight in the finer arts, playing the accordion, crocheting, and knitting with skillful hands. Old movies held a special place in her heart, particularly savoring classics on Turner's channel and relishing the charm of John Wayne's "Quiet Man." The rhythm of life for her included the lively steps of polka dancing, an activity she both enjoyed and watched with enthusiasm.
Her spirit of adventure knew no bounds as she explored the globe, vacationing in Europe, China, South America, and Morocco. A collector of Spanish figurines, especially Lladro porcelain dolls, she brought pieces of the world back home. Despite her varied interests, her family affectionately noted her as the loudest human being, a testament to the vibrant and spirited soul who filled their lives with love and joy.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd. Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South of Route 100) on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church, 5976 Old Washington Road, Elkridge, Maryland 21075 on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
