Margaret Elizabeth Smith, age 75, passed away on January 6, 2026, surrounded by family.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, William A. Smith, Jr. and Margaret Vivian Smith (née Barth).
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Norman C. Mazurek; her brother, William A. Smith, and his wife, Maria Smith; her beloved nephew, Nicholas M. Smith; her cousin Kathy Petty and her husband Pete Petty, as well as their children Cindy Laubach, Douglas Petty, and Scott Petty; and Cousin Roseann Fiedler.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Margaret carried her love for the city with her always. It shaped who she was and how she connected with the world. She had a gift for conversation and could speak comfortably with anyone she met. Her personable nature, quick warmth, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression wherever she went.
She was a devoted animal lover, especially to dogs, and took great pride in rescuing animals and giving them safe, loving homes. Her kindness extended naturally to both people and animals alike.
She also found joy and inspiration in travel and culture, particularly her love for Vienna, the opera, and the stirring sound of bagpipes—things that spoke to her deep appreciation for music, history, and beauty.
