Margaret Ann Spurley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in York, Pennsylvania. She was born on December 30, 1943 in Duff, Tennessee to the late Elmer and Bessie Kidwell and was one of twelve children. Margaret met her cherished husband, Nelson Spurley, soon after she moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1958. They married on May 20, 1961 and went on to have four children. She enjoyed being with her family, watching Hallmark movies, putting together puzzles, playing bingo, counting stacks of coins, and adorning her home with Christmas decorations.
Margaret is survived by her sisters, Viola Pleasant and Willadean Fischbach, and brother, Charles Kidwell; husband, Nelson Spurley; four children, Nelson Spurley Jr. (Alona), Raymond Spurley (Dianne), Anna Spurley (Edward), and Frank Spurley (Odile); ten grandchildren, Zachary Brewer (Krista), Trevor Tripet (Ivette), Jeremy Spurley (Regina), Nicole Pelander (Jordan), Caroline Peredes, Christopher Spurley (Jeanine), Margaret Taylor, Tori Collins (Jordan), Brandon Spurley (Daisy), and Ryan Spurley; and ten great-grandchildren, Rowan, Cael, Kylo, Simon, Arlo, Nicholas, Zoey, Kylee, Sadee, and Carely.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by eight of her siblings.
Margaret will always be remembered for her generosity, love language of filling up everyone’s bellies, and her Southern accent that never diminished after many years away from Tennessee.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland on Wednesday July 9, 2025, from 10AM to 12PM, where a “Christmas in July” Funeral Service will be held at 12PM. Burial to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, Maryland.
