Marion Hawkins Geremia was born on February 20, 1937, in New York, NY, and passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on February 18, 2024.
Marion grew up in the Bronx, NY, with her parents and two sisters. This is where she met John O. Geremia on a blind date at the age of 16. After five years of courtship, Marion and John married on June 7, 1958.
Marion and John made the move to Bowie, MD, after 2 years of marriage, where Marion became the proud wife of a Naval Academy professor. This is where they raised their three children, Lisa, John Anthony, and Marion Patricia. Marion was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mom for many years, until she eventually went to college to obtain a degree in nursing. She worked for many years as a psychiatric nurse before obtaining a master’s degree from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. She subsequently worked with couples struggling with infertility in natural family planning.
After retirement, Marion and John were able to enjoy years of travel before moving to State College, PA, to be near their youngest daughter and help with the care of two of their eight grandchildren. This is where Marion and John lived out their final two decades together, for a total of 65 years of marriage.
Marion will be most remembered for her faith. She was a devout Catholic who raised her children in the faith. She served her church community in various ways during her life and was a generous supporter of St. Jude’s Children's Hospital and St. Joseph’s Indian School in Brule County, SD. She and John would attend the Eucharist on a regular basis and were never without a set of rosary beads, to which they were devoted.
Marion was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Marion Agnes Hawkins, and her sister, Betty DiPompo. She is survived by her husband John O. Geremia, her three children, Lisa Noorani, John A. Geremia, and Marion P. Gall, as well as by her sister, Eileen Frazier, her eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. We are all grateful for having had her in our lives.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
