

Marsha Elizabeth Stodolski, age 78, of Elkridge, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Victoria Ellen Szabo of Durham, North Carolina, James Joseph Szabo Jr. (Debie) of Bedford, Massachusetts, and Rachel Anne Szabo of Elkridge, Maryland. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Eva Sofia and Emma Justine Szabo; her sister, Candace Jane Kronick; and her cousin, Douglas Peter Toth.
Marsha was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut. Her parents were Michael Anthony Stodolski and Wanda Astrid Zygmunt. She was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield in 1964 and the University of Bridgeport in 1971, with a BA in English. She also did postgraduate work in pastoral counseling. She was married twice, to James Joseph Szabo, Sr. and Jackson Leslie Cope.
Marsha was a long term employee of Lutheran Services of the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. She retired from her role as a Classifications Analyst the Maryland Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. She was an avid reader who loved Science Fiction, Fantasy, and English Literature, and also liked to write. She was an active member of Mensa until shortly before her death. She enjoyed gardening, road trips, visits to the sea, learning about her Polish heritage, and attending the occasional renaissance festival. She will be remembered for her intellect, independence, wit, curiosity about the world and its mysteries, and lovable eccentricities.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maryland Food Bank, the House of Ruth, or a charity of your choice.
