On or about April 2, 2015, Martijn Pieter Adam de Boer, at the young age of 56, passed away unexpectedly while in London, England. Born in The Netherlands, he moved to the United States in 1979. After many years of establishing firm roots, he was certain he felt he was a true US citizen and wished to fully contribute as such. He was honored to receive his US Citizenship in 1997. While working full time and raising a family, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1999.
An incredibly intelligent but always humble man, Martijn had two great passions he strove every day of his life to uphold: to love his wife and children, and all that love them, fully and completely; and to make a purposeful effort to always help others. He believed he would achieve these things by being a most trustworthy and upstanding man and citizen, taking care to employ love with gentle guidance in his every thought, word, and action. He had ideas for and contributed to the green sustainability of the environment for he knew all his efforts to keep and hold safe those he cherished would be for naught without doing so. No matter how small the kindness, he gave fully of his heart and soul. A genuine human being, he was the most romantic and attentive husband, an amazing role model to his children, and a friend you could always count on. In his career he enjoyed world-wide travel and thrived in meeting new people and challenges. He was always a champion, with never an unkind thought or word, just a can-do optimistic attitude and tireless energy. Martijn left an indelible impression on this earth -- truly successful in his passions, in his life.
Martijn is survived by his wife Eileen Susan de Boer (nee Smith); his son Ricky Joseph de Boer and his wife Crystal Kathleen (nee Hammock), and their daughter, Martijn's granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose de Boer; his son Pieter Adam de Boer and his fiancé Holly Christina Raub; and his son Andrew Adjan de Boer.
