November 12, 1943 – June 18, 2021
Mary Jane Weilmuenster, age 77, died peacefully on June 18, 2021. A devoted mother to her beloved children, Craig J. Weilmuenster (Judy) and Caren Lynn Jones (Eddie); Cherished grandmother to Bryan D. Johnson (Heather), Andrew E. Weilmuenster, and great-grandson Jack C. Johnson; Survived by her siblings, Herbert Schulte (Germaine), Phyllis Heiderscheidt (Tom), Tom Schulte (Barbara), sister-in-law Carolyn Schulte, eight nephews and two nieces and a multitude of lifelong friends; Preceded in death by David Schulte, Mary Schulte, Zane Schulte, Edward “Butch” Schulte, and Edward “Sonny” Schulte.
Mary Jane was born to Edward and Mary Schulte on November 12th, 1943 in Breese, IL. She lived a simple childhood as the third of five children and graduated high school at Mater Dei Catholic High School in Breese, Illinois in 1961. At the young age of 19, she bravely boarded a bus to Washington, D.C. to begin her lustrous 42-year Federal government career at both the Social Security Administration and the Department of Agriculture. She spent many years as a secretary but moved up the ranks and spent the last several years as a senior Management Analyst investigating internal affairs, where she was afforded the opportunity to travel all over the United States, including Hawaii, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She retired on April 1st, 2006, where she spent the next fifteen years devoting her time to the people she loved.
Mary Jane loved to spend time with family, ultimately building many memories for us to cherish. She loved to travel and was always planning “her next trip” with one of her friends or planning to take her family on a trip to the beach or a “girl’s trip”. Her favorite pastimes included the beach, fishing, gambling at the casino or playing cards with family. She passed on the love of these things to her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In the few days leading up to her death, her family discovered she was a woman of deep faith as evidenced by prayers she wrote and obviously prayed often due to their frayed edges. Her family fondly remembers the lessons she taught us through her example of faith, grace, strength, generosity, thoughtfulness, care for others, and great sense of humor. In the words of her sister-in-law, her life’s greatest accomplishments are her two children. She truly is the best Mom and Grandma ever.
Family and friends are invited to gather at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 8816 Chesapeake Avenue, North Beach, MD 20714 on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on the same day at 11:00am.
