

On July 11, 2025, nine days after the passing of his beloved wife, Margaret, Nelson Thomas Spurley Sr. joined her for eternity. They were married for 64 years and had four children. Nelson was born on March 30, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Melvin and Anna Spurley. He enjoyed spending time with family, picking fun at his wife, watching western movies, listening to Elvis, taking trips to Home Depot, and building things. He was also a talented furniture upholsterer and accomplished business owner.
Nelson is survived by his sisters, Nancy Bellamy and Sarah Sanhaji, and brother, Norman Spurley; four children, Nelson Spurley Jr. (Alona), Raymond Spurley (Dianne), Anna Spurley (Edward), and Frank Spurley (Odile); ten grandchildren, Zachary Brewer (Krista), Trevor Tripet (Ivette), Jeremy Spurley (Regina), Nicole Pelander (Jordan), Caroline Peredes, Christopher Spurley (Jeanine), Margaret Taylor, Tori Collins (Jordan), Brandon Spurley (Daisy), and Ryan Spurley; and ten great-grandchildren, Rowan, Cael, Kylo, Simon, Arlo, Nicholas, Zoey, Kylee, Sadee, and Carely.
In addition to his parents and wife, Nelson was preceded in death by his siblings, Vincent and Geraldine.
Nelson will always be remembered for always putting family first, his stern stature but soft heart, his humor, orderly tendencies, and desire to have deep conversations during drives in his truck.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 10AM to 12PM, where a service will be held at 12. Burial to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, Maryland.
