Nina M. Phillips, 92, of Arbutus, Md. passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Brightview Assisted Living facility in Catonsville. Nina was born January 24,1931 in Ohio to the late John A. Phillips Sr. and Mary C. (Pittinger) Phillips.
Nina led a very active life. She retired from Westinghouse as an Executive Secretary. She was a long-time member of Arbutus Methodist Church. She loved sports and games. Nina was an avid skier and she also enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling and hiking. A card and game-player extraordinaire, she always had a new game at the ready.
Nina was active in supporting her community in many ways. She was a member of the Garden Club and was an accomplished quilter, knitter, and crafter. Many hours were spent crafting and knitting hats and mittens for donations as well as church and community sales.
Nina was a wonderful aunt and her nieces and nephews adored her love of fun! She was up for any adventure! As the family photographer she had the chore of trying to pose six active cousins and we often heard, “These pictures cost money”, but she always got the best shot and we are so thankful for the many memories we enjoy through those pictures.
Nina is survived by her sister-in-law, Doramae Phillips; nieces and nephews, Bonnie Robinson, Rodney Walker, Donna Phillips, John Phillips III (Shari), Mike Walker (Amy), Jo Grigsby (Rocky) and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Betty Moyers, Jeanette Bowen, and Judy Lombardi.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John Phillips Jr.; sister, Priscilla Walker, and brother-in-law, Granville Walker.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, May 26, 2023 at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075 with Reverend Ira Barr officiating.
