Norman Charles Mazurek

Norman lived a life filled with purpose, adventure, and deep love for the people around him. Originally, he enlisted in the Marine Corp, then applied, and was selected to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Upon graduation he was commissioned to the United States Air Force where he served diligently until retirement. During his time, he was awarded the Silver Star for his participation in the Son Tay Raid in 1970. He proudly served his country in the military, and the values of honor and service remained at the center of who he was throughout his life.

Norman embraced life fully. He loved to travel, always excited to discover new places, meet new people, and experience different cultures. He had a special place in his heart for dogs; their unconditional love and loyal companionship brought him endless joy.

He had an enjoyment in the arts. Whether attending a performance, visiting a museum, or simply appreciating creativity, Norman believed the arts had a unique way of bringing people together.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret E. Smith. Norman is survived by his daughter Katrina Caras and her husband Michael, his daughter Anne Mazurek, his daughter Kathleen Peters and her husband Gary and Norman’s only son, Charles Norman Mazurek. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ryan Gramlich and his wife Corinne, Andrew Heibel, Sarah Heibel, James Caras and Cameron Peters and his two great-grandsons, Forrest and Ridge Gramlich.

Norman will also be greatly missed by his nephew Nicholas Smith and sister-in-law, Maria M. Smith as well as his many friends that have been a part of his life throughout these years.

Norman Mazurek's funeral service and inurnment of his ashes will take place on Friday, August 21st, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd. Elkridge, MD 21075.
