Phyllis Jean Bowers was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is predeceased in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Howard Benjamin Bowers and her eldest son Howard “Bus” Bowers. She is survived by her children Michael Bowers and his wife Donna, Roger Bowers, Brenda Bugaay, William Bowers and wife Denise, Marvin Bowers and wife Charmaine and Cheryl Burns and husband Terry. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her older sister Shirley Lorraine Bowers.
Phyllis was a strong, loving and independent woman with a heart of gold. Her children always came first and she sacrificed her needs no matter what. She not only raised her children but would make sure no one else went hungry. She was mom mom and mam maw not only to her grandchildren but to all the neighborhood children. She was honest and hardworking. She always spoke her mind and told everyone what she thought they needed to hear but with the best intentions. If you could handle her tough exterior you were family for life!
In her younger years, Phyllis loved horseback riding and working in the garden. As she got older she found joy in shopping with her sister Lorraine, doing crossword puzzles and going out to dinner. She loved watching her kids and grandkids play softball. She never missed a game or a tournament. She was our biggest fan! Above all, Phyllis loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren.
