Richard Paul “Rick” Boyer, of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the age of 79.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Carol Boyer (née Slavotinek); his beloved son, Brantdon Boyer and his finance Susan; his cherished daughter, Lindsay Boyer; and his three treasured grandchildren, Madelyn, Peyton, and Anthony.
He is also survived by his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Pfeffer; his brothers-in-law, Louis Slavotinek and John Slavotinek (Paula); his sister-in-law, Diane (Danny) Merson; his cousins, Marsha Goforth and Kathleen Janetka; his beloved 97-year-old Aunt Shirley of California; and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his loving parents, Eugene and Mae Boyer; his brother, Eugene Boyer; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Slavotinek.
Rick was a devoted Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan and especially enjoyed watching the Little League World Series on television. He had a lifelong love of sports and gave generously of his time as a Little League baseball and basketball coach for nine years. He loved coaching his son, Brantdon, and encouraging young athletes. He took great pride in supporting them, celebrating their successes, and being a meaningful part of their lives.
An avid golfer, Rick enjoyed spending time outdoors and staying active. He loved working in his yard and was exceptionally handy, always ready to tackle a project, fix something that needed fixing, or lend a helping hand. He took great pride in his John Deere and his snow blower, and he genuinely enjoyed the satisfaction that came from working with his hands.
Rick also cherished his time at Rehoboth Beach, where he enjoyed making special memories with his family. At home, some of his favorite pleasures were the meals Carol prepared, especially her Italian meatballs and spaghetti. He also had a particular fondness for corn on the cob, Grotto’s pizza, and ice cream—especially vanilla and peanut butter ripple.
These simple favorites were part of what made Rick who he was: a man who appreciated good food, family traditions, time outdoors, sports, and, most of all, being surrounded by the people he loved.
Rick’s generous spirit, gentle nature, and quiet strength touched the lives of many. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his love, his kindness, his sense of devotion, and all the everyday moments that made time with him so special. His lasting legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
