Robert was a devoted and loving husband to his beloved wife, Judith Dorsey (née Rinehart), with whom he shared 65 years of marriage grounded in love, faith, and unwavering commitment. He was a proud and dedicated father to Diane Williams (Michael), Rita Yow, and Robert Dorsey Jr. (Shannon), whom he cherished deeply.
He was a treasured grandfather to Christina Mitchell (Jonas), Carrie Leonard (Jeremiah), Daniel Williams (Ashley), Amber Dunbar (Joshua), Austin Dorsey, and Alexis Dorsey, and a joyful great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Robert was a loving brother to his ten siblings: Mildred Todd, Margaret Rettaliata, and was preceded in death by his dear siblings Ruth Rettaliata, Patricia Taylor, Marie Wiedefeld, Eleanor Kelbaugh, Jean Grant, Thelma Ryall, Dorothy Sander, and John A. Dorsey, Jr.
Alongside his son, Robert founded Dorsey Family Homes, a family-owned home-building business that has faithfully served Howard County and surrounding areas for more than 40 years. Built on integrity, honesty, and strong family values, the company reflects the principles Robert lived by each day.
An honorably discharged United States Marine, Robert exemplified discipline, humility, and service throughout his life. Above all, he was a man of steadfast and unshakable faith. He devoted his retired life to missionary work, traveling to more than 50 countries to share the Gospel and bring God’s love and hope to people around the world. His life stood as a testimony to servant leadership, obedience to God’s calling, and a heart fully surrendered to Christ.
