Sandra "Sandy" E. Danna passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Sandy is lovingly remembered by her children, Matthew Danna (and wife Carolyn) and Erika O'Donnell (and husband Jeffrey); her adored grandchildren, Evelyn Danna, Lucia Danna, Kaylee O'Donnell, and Dean O'Donnell, who affectionately called her "Nonna"; her devoted partner, William Lantz; her dear sister, Renee Bryson (and husband Stephen); and her cherished niece and nephew, Alyson Sanson and Bryan Bryson.
Sandy is predeceased by her Loving Husband of 24 years, Salvatore Danna; and beloved parents, Evan and Sophie Lucas.
She spent over 36 years with Anne Arundel Public Schools, first as a teacher and later as an administrator, shaping the lives of countless students. Her passion for education continued at UMBC, where she worked as an adjunct professor in the Department of Education and devoted much of her time to the Curriculum Resource Center, mentoring aspiring teachers. She found friendship and community with the Aphasia Corner and Aphasia Book Club and served as a mentor to other stroke survivors.
Sandy loved to travel, and she deeply enjoyed sharing her adventures with loved ones. Sandy also had a love of classic rock and fast cars—an enthusiasm sparked by her father, a Detroit engineer for Chrysler (Dodge). She even drove a Hemi Orange Super Stock Dodge Charger, a true reflection of her vibrant personality and love of speed.
Above all else, Sandy lived for her grandkids, who were the light of her life. Her warmth, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
