Santos Ramiro Mejia Ponce, age 92, native of La Villa de San Francisco, Francisco Morazan, Honduras, Central America, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He was the former spouse of Maria Nieves Mejia and the beloved father of Luis F. Mejia Gomez and his wife Lourdes Margarita Mejia Amaya, Ramiro Mejia Rodriguez and his wife Olga Mendez Mejia, Ricardo D. Mejia and his wife Yesenia Mejia Gomez, Carmen L. Sanchez Mejia and her husband Oscar D. Sanchez, Hector Rene Mejia Rodriguez and his wife Alba C. Lezama de Mejia, Oscar Mejia Rodriguez and his wife Anabel Guillen, Doris A. Nava Mejia and her husband Gilberto Nava Bello, Norma C. Retzlaff Mejia and her husband Mark S. Retzlaff, Ramiro Antonio Mejia Gomez and his fiancée Veronica Chavez, Jorge Mejia Gomez, Santos Ramiro Mejia Torres, Karla Mejia Rodriguez and her husband Rodolfo Martinez, and Sandy Mejia and her husband Jose Alberto Matute. He was preceded in death by his son, Fredy Ramiro Mejia and his wife(living), Wendy Selene Castillo. He was beloved brother of Leyla Sulai Mejia Velasquez and her husband Henoch Rivera Rios, Orlando Mejia and his wife Dayanira Lagos de Mejia, and sister Gloria Mejia Velasquez. He was preceded in death by his sister Maria Prisca Ponce de Galo, sister Edilia Ponce de Matute, brother Rafael Antonio Mejia, sister Miriam Mejia de Bonilla, brother Armando Mejia Velasquez, and sister Gladys Margarita Mejia Velasquez.

Santos was a devoted family man and the cherished grandfather of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory in their hearts and continue his legacy of love and tradition.

Santos lived a long and full life, marked by the many simple joys he loved to share. He enjoyed working on word searches and 1,000-piece puzzles, often spending hours with patience and focus. A man with a love for music, he delighted in singing and listening to ballads and country songs. He also enjoyed target shooting, cheering for hockey, soccer, and boxing. He often talked to the screen as if he were their coach.

Known for his sharp style, Santos took pride in dressing dapper, wearing his favorite dress hats and gold jewelry. He also had a passion for good food, especially fried fish, chicharrones (deep-fried pork belly), seafood, and a wide variety of Latin dishes. In his quiet moments, he loved watching westerns specially Bonanza, both television shows and classic movies.

Santos will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his love of music and family, and the many traditions and joys he shared throughout his 92 years.

Mejía y su esposa Yesenia Mejía Gómez; Carmen L. Sánchez Mejía y su esposo Oscar D. Sánchez; Héctor René Mejía Rodríguez y su esposa Alba C. Lezama de Mejía; Oscar Mejía Rodríguez y su esposa Anabel Guillén; Doris A. Nava Mejía y su esposo Gilberto Nava Bello; Norma C. Retzlaff Mejía y su esposo Mark S. Retzlaff; Ramiro Antonio Mejía Gómez y su prometida Verónica Chávez; Jorge Mejía Gómez; Santos Ramiro Mejía Torres; Karla Mejía Rodríguez y su esposo Rodolfo Martínez; y Sandy Mejía y su esposo José Alberto Matute.

Le precedió en la muerte su hijo, Fredy Ramiro Mejía; le sobrevive su esposa Wendy Selene Castillo.

Fue el querido hermano de Leyla Sulai Mejía Velásquez y su esposo Henoch Rivera Ríos, Orlando Mejía y su esposa Dayanira Lagos de Mejía, y su hermana Gloria Mejía Velásquez. También le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanas María Prisca Ponce de Galo, Edilia Ponce de Matute, Miriam Mejía de Bonilla, Gladys Margarita Mejía Velásquez, y sus hermanos Rafael Antonio Mejía y Armando Mejía Velásquez.

Santos fue un hombre entregado a su familia y el entrañable abuelo de numerosos nietos y bisnietos, quienes llevarán siempre su recuerdo en el corazón y continuarán su legado de amor y tradición.

Vivió una vida larga y plena, marcada por las alegrías sencillas que tanto disfrutaba compartir. Le encantaban las sopas de letras y los rompecabezas de 1,000 piezas, dedicándoles horas con paciencia y concentración. Amante de la música, disfrutaba cantar y escuchar boleros y rancheras. También le gustaban el tiro al blanco y animar con entusiasmo los partidos de hockey, fútbol y boxeo, hablando a la pantalla como si fuera el entrenador.

Reconocido por su elegancia, Santos se enorgullecía de vestir con estilo, usando sus sombreros favoritos y joyería de oro. Sentía pasión por la buena comida, especialmente el pescado frito, los chicharrones, los mariscos y una gran variedad de platillos latinos. En sus momentos de tranquilidad, disfrutaba viendo películas y series del oeste, en especial Bonanza.

Santos será recordado por su espíritu vibrante, su amor por la música y la familia, y por las muchas tradiciones y alegrías que compartió a lo largo de sus 92 años.
