Sally was born on July 9, 1931 and she passed away peacefully with her beloved family on Friday, February 14, 2020. She was born on the West Indian island of Trinidad, where she met her husband and had five children. In 1956, she moved to Jamaica where she welcomed their 6th child. Sally enjoyed spending her days raising her family, sewing, cooking, and making her house into a home. In 1966, she and her husband were ready to move to America, the promised land. They arrived in Chicago on the Fourth of July and a year later they moved to Maryland.
Sally’s passion in life was her family. She made it her life’s goal to make everyone feel special and important. She raised her children to understand how to treat others kindly, enjoy life to the fullest, as well as the importance of being fair and honest. One of her favorite things to do was to prepare for the 4th of July. This not only marked the anniversary of her family being in America, but it was the one time of the year her entire family came together from all over the country for a huge and memorable celebration. Next to her family, preparing her garden and planting a variety of beautifully colored flowers each spring was her favorite pastime. Gardening put a smile on her face, but her family kept the smile on her face.
Sally is survived by her six children: Henry Baney, Cindoll Nelson and son-in-law Max Nelson, Herman Baney, Ellina Ali and son-in-law Kelvin Ali, Bobby Baney and daughter–in-law Cindy Baney, and Tony Baney and daughter-in-law Bonnie Baney. Her family also includes 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
