Thomas Timothy O'Neil

Born on February 16, 1951, Thomas was the beloved son of the late Raymond and Genevieve O'Neil. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army before beginning a distinguished career with the National Security Agency (NSA), where he worked as a linguist for more than 25 years. He retired in 2003 after years of dedicated service.

Thomas was a devoted father to Maureen Amoss (the late Christopher Edward), Brendan O'Neil, and the late Sean O'Neil. He was extremely proud and cherished his grandchildren, Gabriel Thomas, Natalie Donna, and Keeley Bridget, they brought him immeasurable joy. He was also the dear brother of Debra Hanson and the late John and Jerry O'Neil.

Outside of his career, Thomas found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid fan of Marvel comic books, loved the companionship of cats, and never passed up a good Italian meal—especially lasagna. Above all else, he treasured his family. Whether sharing stories, enjoying meals together, or simply spending time with those he loved, his greatest joy came from being a father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Thomas will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His kindness, dedication, and sense of humor touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at which time a Celebration of Life Service will begin. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
