Veda Elaine Stewart

Veda Elaine Stewart was born on September 16, 1961 to the late parents of William Sandy Stewart and Glendora Brock Stewart and was raised in Roosevelt Long Island, New York. In the early morning hours of July 12, 2021 Veda departed this life. Veda was the youngest of four siblings; Debra of Jacksonville, NC, William (Billy) Jr. (Rose) of Denver, CO, Myrtle of Columbia, SC and Barbara of Randallstown, MD. Preceded in death by one sister; JoAnne Watson (James) of Glen Cove, NY. Veda was a graduate of Roosevelt Junior Senior High School and attended college Upstate New York and Howard Community College of Columbia Maryland.

As a child growing up, we were encouraged by our mother to play with each other in our own backyard. Veda enjoyed traveling and going on vacation, watching movies, going to the beaches in Ocean City, MD, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Emerald Isle, NC. She also enjoyed her house plants, flowers, and growing vegetables in her yard.

Veda leaves behind two beautiful daughters, Talea of Jacksonville, NC and Janel of the home.

Veda was employed at Howard County Recreation and Parks in the Warehouse Purchasing department for 14 years. She assisted her job working wine in the woods festivals and volunteered in other festivals.

Veda leaves behind her two loving grandchildren, Jamilah and Crawford III of Jacksonville, NC.

Preceded in Death by one nephew: Staff Sergeant Jamal Raines , Veda also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, and friends and family.

Veda had a strong mindset and spirit even until the end.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075 (exit 6 off Rt. 100 south) on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm where her Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10:00 am. Committal Service and Interment will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.
