Weltha Josephine "Jo" Eggerl, of Crownsville, Maryland passed away suddenly, on May 27, 2024 at the age of 85. Jo was the beloved wife of the late John J. Eggerl and the devoted mother of William J. Eggerl (Valerie), John David Eggerl (Jen), Robert M. Eggerl (Sandy) and T. Suzanne Goetzke (Paul); loving grandmother of Braden (Marianne), Madeline, Elizabeth, Kierstin (Patrick), Gabrielle, Harrison, and Kathryn; cherished great-grandmother of Brooks, Mary Clare, Anneliese, and Ashton; dear sister of the late Anne Donaldson and William "Bud" Smith.
Jo was born in North Carolina and moved with her family to Crownsville in 1949.
She attended Arundel High School where she was a cheerleader and softball catcher. She was a lifelong sports enthusiast and a huge Orioles fan.
In 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, John Eggerl. They were happily married for 55 years until his death in 2014.
Jo was a secretary on base at Fort Meade until becoming a mother. She lovingly raised her = four children and was “Momma Jo” to many others. Together, she and Johnny, their children, and extended family worked at the family owned restaurant Blob’s Park. Running the restaurant was a big part of their lives but they also enjoyed traveling, taking several trips to Europe, Hawaii, and the West, often in the company of their dearest friends, Donna and Wylie “Buddy” Donaldson.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Martyr Church 7850 Parkside Blvd., Hanover, Maryland 21075 on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Jo's family wishes donations to be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
