Zachary Tyler Grasser passed away at the age of 27 on Saturday, October 8, 2022. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, and a beacon of light to many. Zach was born in Columbia, Maryland on April 17, 1995 and grew up in neighboring Elkridge.
Zach was an Operating Engineer with JLL, who is in charge of the property management company at Fed Ex Field. He was proud to have received the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Property Management Golden Wrench Award as he thoroughly loved his job and co-workers/friends.
Zach was a warrior on the football field as left tackle, defensive and offensive guard for the Howard Lions in high school. Zach graduated with an associate’s degree in Associate of Applied Science Electronics Technology from Howard Community College.
In his free time, he loved working on cars (specifically his beloved Ariel, his Camaro RS), attending concerts and festivals, cheering on the Maryland Terps, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Commanders, collected trains, built models, and woodworking as he loved working with his hands either fixing or building things. Zach loved anything to do with the water as he had a fascination for sharks and fish - would just sit for hours staring at the sea or saltwater tanks - and enjoyed trips to the beach. He loved spending time with family, friends, and his sisters Taylor and Camille, and was a lover of all animals especially his rescue (bulldog/boxer mix) Quinn and his horse, Old Man Ray.
Zach is survived by his parents/stepmom, Heather Whitney Hill, and Christopher Joseph Grasser (Jennifer Alison Pickens); siblings, Taylor Grasser, Camille Curtis and the late Tyler Grasser; grandparents, Gayle Hill and the late Richard Hill, and Joanne M. Beck Grasser; and numerous of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Zach had the brightest smile, biggest heart, had a healthy sense of humor as he loved being goofy and pulling pranks on everyone, and exemplified what it meant to live life to the fullest.
A Memorial Gathering for Zach will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. Memorial Services will be live-streamed via Facebook under Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
This is a casual celebration of Zach’s life and we would love it if everyone either wore blue, Zach’s favorite color, Washington Commanders, Maryland Terps, or Ravens gear in honor of him.
Zach's family asks if you are so moved to make a donation "In his memory" to either of these charities: Hopeworks of Howard County (https://hopeworksofhc.org/) or Barcs Animal Shelter (https://www.barcs.org/)
