

Carroll D. Richards, 90, a native son to Kittitas Valley pioneers born 2/8/1926, passed away 11/11/2016 on the farm he grew up on. Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. (Phelan) Richards and his father and mother, Roy D. and Elva J. (Derr) Richards. He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Mitch) Perry and son Cliff (Valerie) Richards and granddaughter Jennifer, granddaughter Nicole Perry and her 3 children (Traeton, Travis, Tyran) and Drew (Amy) Perry and their 3 children (Emmi, Darla, Alec), his brother Milton (Shirley) Richards and sister Shirley (Wayne) Heisserman and extended families.
He served in the Navy at the end of WWII and was called back for the Korean conflict. He attended Carroll College while in the Navy and was in Pilot Training and Navy Engineering programs. He also attended CWU and U of W and was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity.
His love of aviation was a big part of his life. He built models since he was 6 years old, as well as a primary glider, learned to fly floatplanes out of Kenmore Air Harbor and owned three airplanes at different stages of his life.
Carroll was an accomplished violinist and in his later years became a fine organist and was a member of the Theatre Organ Society.
Carroll will be laid to rest with his late wife Beverly, to whom he was married for 57 years, in High Valley Cemetery on the west side of the beautiful Kittitas Valley.
Per his request, there will be no service.
