

Dr. Orval Edward Putoff Jr.(1926-2013).January 2nd 2013, Dr. Orval Edward Putoff, Jr. died at the age of 86 years. Born, January 16th 1926 in Santa Cruz, California, where he spent much of his youth. Honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1946, where he was a radioman, Seaman first class. After the Navy, he met and married LeNea Binggeli, his friend and love. In 1973, Orval was awarded PhD of Psychology from Claremont University of California. He taught at Central Washington University for 15 years before retiring in 1982. He particularly enjoyed his research and instruction of child psychology at Hebler and later his work on futurism.
He is survived by sons James E Putoff and Marc K Putoff, daughters Ingrid Lutz and Minda Rose, and Grandchildren Joshua K Watkins and Oliver P Lutz. Orval was preceded in death by his wife LeNea Putoff.
He will always be remembered for his love of literature, knowledge, music, playing Jazz piano, Impressionistic art, gardening, photography, and animals. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the aging and long-term care organizations that provided great support and to his many care providers who enriched his life.
While serving on a ship in the Navy, Orval concluded a poem with, "…I do occasionally hear a beautiful concerto playing somewhere. I have visions of clear, sparkling water rushing and gurgling down some distant mountain stream; of tall pine trees and gently soothing breeze; of paved streets and moonlight night; somewhere, on a warm sunny day, I hear laughter and animated conversation. Right now, I hear the rhythmic beat of the ships engine. 'Freedom, freedom, freedom.' "
