He graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1977. Following graduation Tim started working for a local farmer. He found he liked farming and repairing farm machinery, which led to his hobby of rebuilding and repairing old cars and trucks. As Tim's health deteriorated he sought other employment in Ellensburg.
He loved his home town. On May 21, 1983 Tim and Ellen Knudsen were married. They were married for thirty-four years. The marriage was blessed with two children Paige Marie in 1986 and Jeffrey S. in 1991. The family enjoyed boating and fishing on the Columbia River and the Potholes in Eastern Washington. Tim loved the outdoors. He especially loved fishing with son Jeff. When Tim was a teenager he and his older brother Alan hunted for Pheasants and Ducks on the local ponds.
In 2014 Tim and Ellen joyfully welcomed a Granddaughter Zoey Joelle Bird. Zoey and Tim had a special bond. She dearly loved her grandpa (Pawk).

"Time for me to go now, I won't say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, way up in the sky. In the morning sunrise when all the world is new, Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you."
