

Bernadette was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Anthony and Veronica Calcagni on February 25th 1946. She went to Upper Darby High School and retired as a waitress at the age of 59. She was a faithful donator to the St Jude charity, as well as the Salvation Army. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing puzzles, and embroidery.
Bernadette is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Lewis (John Lewis) and Denise Sykes (James Sykes), and her brother William Calcagni (Karen) as well as six grandchildren (and spouses), twelve great grandchildren, and many loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Veronica, her two brothers, Thomas and Robert, and her loving husband, John Reihl.
Visitation will be held at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Avenue E, Ellenton, FL, 34222, on Saturday October 25th 2025 from 9:00am-10:30am. Funeral mass to follow at Holy Cross Church, 505 26th Street W, Palmetto, FL, 34221 at 11:00am. Luncheon will take place immediately following services at 5619 Bayshore Rd in the main hall. All are welcome to attend.
Bernadette will always be remembered for her strength and the way that she loved her family unconditionally. We’ll always remember how every day she matched all of her jewelry and her shoes to the outfit she was wearing. She was the matriarch of her family and she will be missed every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
