Bill was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on November 12, 1943, and went to high school at Mount Vernon High, graduating in 1961. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University School of Business in 1969.
As a young man, Bill worked such diverse jobs as construction worker, store Santa and radio DJ; and for nearly 30 years, he worked as Comptroller for Taylor & Fulton Tomatoes, LLC.
Bill was a master cultivator of Florida flora, as shown by his beautiful home garden and the neighborhood where he raised his family for over 40 years. He was a passionate and expert hobbyist in several other things as well, including becoming a self-taught woodworker, racing cars at Sebring Raceway, sailing in Alaska, traveling to Vietnam and Cuba, running the Gasparilla half marathon, cycling through Nova Scotia, fishing throughout Florida and reading thousands of books.
Bill is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 54 years; his daughter Dawn, her husband Joe and their daughters Sarina, Simone and Josslynn: his son Zach, his wife Jess and their son Charlie; and his brother Robert (Bob).
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the amazing team of caregivers who supported and comforted Bill in the last of year of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at King Ranch (4630 60th Street East [Caruso Road] Bradenton, FL 34203) on Saturday, June 20 at 11am, with a celebratory lunch immediately after (please dress cool and casual).
In lieu of flowers, an honorary donation can be made in Bill’s name to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens: http://www.selby.org/support/memorial/
