

Carl Gene Vandermolen, a much loved husband, father, grandfather, son and step-brother. Carl Gene Vandermolen, 69, of Bradenton Florida, passed away peacefully at his home, October 18, 2018 with his family present. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born on September 24, 1949 in Ottumwa, IA and resided in Bradenton, Florida for the past 28 years.
Carl’s parents were Cecil and Sylvia Vandermolen of Pella, Iowa, where he attended Peoria Christian School and Pella Christian High. He worked at Vermeer Manufacturing and then as a salesman for Vermeer Manufacturing of Orlando, Florida. Prior to Carl’s retirement he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Westra Construction and C&M Road Builders.
Carl married the love of his life, Marcy VanderLinden, 49 years ago. They had four children, Scott Vandermolen (Channon), Amy Hartwig (Nathan), Gail Melichar (Todd Walters) and Curtis Vandermolen (Heidi).
His love of family was evident as he enjoyed attending the events of his 15 grandchildren, sharing his passion of Nascar Racing and his collection of toy tractors with them.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy; their 4 children; 15 grandchildren;2 great grandchildren; his mother, Sylvia Langstraat; brothers-in-law, Ron Rozenboom (Zelda) and Ed VanderLinden (Jeanne); 7 step-brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil and step-father, Anthony Langstraat, his father and mother- in-law, Lester and Viola VanderLinden, his sister-in-law, Marilyn Rozenboom and a step-sister.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Groover Funeral Home at 2:00pm.
